Hello All!

Well, yesterday was a marathon day at Loyola.  I arrived at 7:30am and left around 4:30pm.  I ended up having a procedure called a port stripping.  They send a wire up through the groin to the tubing that's clogged and strip it clean.  I was awake through the procedure which was very interesting.  Of course, I wasn't looking forward to going through another ordeal, but it did work and the port will hopefully remain open for the rest of my treatments.  Dan was able to come and relieve Terri Schroeder who has been with me for both port procedures.  It was good for Dan to get to see how the chemo is administered.  I felt well enough after the long Loyola visit to go out and get a bite to eat!  Then it was home to bed!!

Both kids are home and that always makes me happy!!  Emily had her own medical ordeal with a kidney infection.  She ended up in the ER for IV fluids and a new antibiotic.  She is doing much better now!

The subbing on Wednesday was alot of fun.  Only one student commented on my new hair color.  She added that her mom also colors her hair!!  Too funny!

I wish you all a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend!

Karen

  1. mom,

i am impressed every day at how strong you have been throughout your treatment and this process. and not to mention a little embarrassed that I was more wiped out from a stupid kidney infection than you have been from having cancer yet haha.

    I love you!

  3. Karen,
Great news! Taylor gave me the lowdown on how she saw you and she knew that it was you but that you had a wig. She amazes me at what she soaks up but she talked about you a couple more times. We're still praying for good treatments like you've had and good times with Emily and Dan. We miss you guys!

  4. Hi Karen,
Hope you had a good 4th. The weather made it a perfect day for resting. Hopefully you are done with procedures for a while and that the next few weeks of treatments go by quickly and uneventfully. It's a good time to get out and enjoy the sunshine.
    Take care my dear.

  5. Hi Karen,
It was great to see you today at school! You really do look fantastic and I have to say I just thought you got a new haircut. I totally didn't realize it was a wig. I'm glad you finally got to meet Keira! Take care and keep up the good work, white blood cells!
